Day 1 :

KATHMANDU: ARRIVAL DAY

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, take the opportunity to rest and acclimatize, or explore the vibrant streets of Thamel, a bustling hub of restaurants and shops.

Day 2 :

KATHMANDU to LUKLA to PHAKDING

Lukla: 2,880m/9,383 ft Phakding: 2,610m/8,563ft Height gain: -270m/-820ft Flight: 47 minutes (Kathmandu to Lukla) : 15 minutes (Ramechhap to Lukla) after a 4.5 hours' drive from Kathmandu. Walking Distance: 7.8 km (3-4 hours) Difficulty: Easy After a scenic flight from Kathmandu, you'll be treated to mesmerizing views of the Himalayas before landing in Lukla, the gateway to the Khumbu region. This exhilarating flight sets the stage for the start of your trek. Typically, the initial trekking day involves a hike to Phakding, following the Dudh Koshi River through charming villages and lush forests. Phakding serves as the first overnight stop. Please note that while flights mainly operate directly from Kathmandu to Lukla, during peak trekking seasons, alternative routes like Kathmandu-Ramechhap-Lukla may be necessary to avoid lengthy wait times for plane tickets due to high air traffic. If plane tickets are unavailable, the route will be redirected through Ramechhap. Upon reaching Lukla, the trek will proceed according to the outlined itinerary.

Day 3 :

PHAKDING TO NAMCHE BAZAAR

Phakding: 2,610m/8,563ft Namche: 3,440m/11,286ft Height gain: 830m/2,723ft Walking Distance: 12 km (6.5-7 hours) Difficulty: Hard While trekking from Phakding to Namche Bazaar, adventurers will encounter the renowned Tenzing-Hillary Bridge near Jorsalle, a popular spot for trekkers to capture a memorable photo. After an approximately 6.5+ hour trek, the journey culminates in Namche Bazaar, where the evening sun beautifully illuminates the mountains. Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy the first glimpse of Everest from Top Dada.

Day 4 :

NAMCHE ACCLIMATIZATION DAY

Namche: 3,440m/11,286ft Everest View Hotel: 3,880m/12,729ft Height gain: 440m/1,443ft Walking Distance: 6 km (5 hours) Difficulty: Medium Following breakfast, trekkers will explore Sagarmatha National Park, providing a vantage point for a 360-degree panoramic view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Amadablam, Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Tabuche, Mt. Peak 38, Mt. Kongde, and more. The National Park features a museum showcasing the wildlife and local culture of Khumbu, including a statue honoring the legendary climber Mr. Tenzing Norgay Sherpa. After the sightseeing, the journey continues with a hike towards the renowned Everest View Hotel, where trekkers can enjoy the breathtaking scenery while sipping on a delightful cup of tea. Namche also offers opportunities for trekkers to shop for any necessary trekking items.

Day 5 :

NAMCHE BAZAAR TO PHORTSE

Namche: 3,440m/11,286ft Phortse: 3,840m/12,598ft Height gain: 400m/1,312ft Walking Distance: 10km (6 hours) Difficulty: Medium A perfect overnight halt on the Everest Base Camp trek, Phortse Village charms trekkers with its tranquil ambiance, breathtaking vistas, and genuine Sherpa hospitality. The local tea houses provide an ideal resting spot, allowing visitors to soak in the warmth of homestays and fully engage in the vibrant Sherpa culture. Day 6 :

PHORTSE TO DINGBOCHE

Phortse: 3,840m/12,598ft Dingboche: 4,410m/14,469ft Height gain: 570m/1871ft Walking Distance: 11km (6 hours) Difficulty: Medium Dingboche Village stands out as a cherished resting point on the Everest Base Camp trek, surrounded by majestic peaks that provide a captivating backdrop. This locale offers a glimpse into the warm hospitality and rich Sherpa culture, inviting visitors to indulge in local delicacies, witness traditional ceremonies, and explore ancient monasteries. Day 7 :

DINGBOCHE REST/ACCLIMATIZATION DAY

Dingboche: 4,410m/14,469ft Nang kartshang Hill: 5,121m/16,801ft Height gain: 711m/2,332ft Walking Distance: 2.5 hours/1.5 hours (to and fro) Difficulty: Hard After breakfast on this specific day, we will embark on a hike to Nang Kartshang Hill, a conveniently walkable peak situated above Dingboche village, locally known as Nangar-JOONG. From this vantage point, trekkers can enjoy panoramic views of Kangtega, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Taboche, and many other breathtaking mountains. Following the "rest day" in Dingboche village, the journey progresses to higher elevations, leading towards Everest Base Camp, Kalapatthar, and beyond.

Day 8 :

DINGBOCHE TO LOBUCHE

Dingboche: 4,410m/14,469ft Lobuche: 4,910m/16,109ft Height gain: 500m/1640ft Walking Distance: 10-11 km (6-7 hours) Difficulty: Easy Following breakfast, as we journey from Thukla to Lobuche, we'll be treated to a spectacular view of Mt. Ama Dablam, along with the breathtaking scenery of Mt. Taboche, Chola Che, Lhotse, Island Peak, Lobuche Peak, Pumari, and Nuptse. Upon reaching our lunch spot, Thukla, we will traverse the easy route, also known as the terminal moraine of Khumbu Glacier. A 45-minute walk from Thukla leads us to the Memorial point, a tribute to climbers who lost their lives in mountains worldwide. The upward trail from Thukla to the memorial point is challenging, followed by an easier path to Lobuche, our overnight stay destination.

Day 9 :

LOBUCHE TO GORAKSHEP AND EVEREST BASE CAMP; EBC TO GORAKSHEP

Labuche: 4910m/16,109ft Gorekshep: 5,164m/16,942ft Everest Base Camp: 5,364m/17,598ft Height gain: 454m/1,489ft Walking Distance: 15km (6-8 hours) Difficulty: Hard Commencing our day with an early breakfast, we embark on a hike to Gorakshep. The trek spans approximately 2.5-3 hours, featuring an easy terrain for the initial 2 hours, with the remaining time presenting a bit more challenging path. Upon reaching Gorakshep, we enjoy our lunch and then continue our hike to Everest Base Camp. The trail to EBC is uphill, and the final minutes approaching EBC involve rocky and somewhat hazardous terrain due to the risk of falling rocks from the glaciers above. After reaching EBC, we return to our hotel at Gorakshep. Tonight, an early bedtime is essential, as we need to rise at 4:00 a.m. to ensure timely arrival at Kalapatthar for the mesmerizing sunrise view.

Day 10 :

GORAKSHEP TO KALAPATHAR AND PHERICHE

GorakShep: 5,164m/16,942ft Kalapatthar: 5,545m/18,192ft Pheriche: 4,320m/14,173ft Walking Distance: 12-13km (5-6 hours) Difficulty: Hard (Gorakshep to Kalapathhar) An early wake-up call at 4:00 a.m. marks the beginning of our day, as we commence our hike to Kalapatthar. Upon returning to the hotel, we have breakfast. Kalapatthar, known as the Black Rock, offers a serene setting for capturing unparalleled views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Changtse, and a distant glimpse of Lhotse. These panoramic scenes stand out from any others encountered during the entire trek. Following breakfast, we set out for Pheriche, making a lunch stop at Thukla before reaching our destination. It's worth noting that from this point onward, our journey involves descending, and height gains are no longer a focus.

Day 11 :

PHERICHE TO NAMCHE

Pheriche: 4,320m/14,173ft Namche: 3,440m/11,286ft Walking Distance: 14-15km (7-8 hours) Difficulty: Medium Our trek from Pheriche to Dibuche involves a continuous downhill walk, followed by a 35-40 minute uphill trail leading to Tengboche. From Tengboche, we descend to Phunge Thanga, our lunch spot, taking approximately 1.5 hours. The arrival at Tengboche includes a visit to the world-famous Tengboche Monastery, a prominent Buddhist temple. After lunch, trekkers proceed to Namche, navigating a combined trail of uphill and downhill sections, with the initial 1.5 hours featuring a challenging uphill ascent.

Day 12 :

NAMCHE TO PHAKDING

Namche: 3,440m/11,286ft Phakding: 2,610m/8,563ft Walking Distance: 12 km (5 hours) Difficulty: Easy With the trail from Namche to Phakding primarily descending, you'll have the pleasure of indulging in a hearty lunch right in Phakding. The remainder of the day is yours to savor, offering opportunities to enjoy excellent coffees and perhaps experience the cozy ambiance of the Irish Bar.

Day 13 :

PHAKDING TO LUKLA

Phakding: 2,610m/8,563ft Lukla: 2,880m/9,383 ft Walking Distance: 7.8 km (3-4 hours) Difficulty: Easy The concluding day of the Everest Base Camp Trek in the Khumbu region begins with a final breakfast at Phakding. Following this, the journey commences towards Lukla, with an anticipated arrival by 12:00 p.m. After reaching Lukla, there will be a shared lunch and dinner event. On this day, all participants in the trek will gather for a final dinner, offering a chance to bid farewell to each other. Before the farewell, you have the option to explore local sites such as monasteries, schools, and playgrounds in Lukla.

Day 14 :

LUKLA TO KATHMANDU

Altitude: 1350m/4428ft Flight time: 35 min With the trek reaching its conclusion, the trekking team will bid farewell to the trekkers at Lukla, from where they will fly back to Kathmandu. Please note that while flights usually operate directly from Lukla to Kathmandu, during peak trekking seasons, an alternative route through Lukla-Ramechhap-Kathmandu may be necessary to avoid prolonged waiting for plane tickets due to heavy air traffic. In case plane tickets are unavailable, the route will be redirected through Ramechhap. Upon arrival at Ramechhap by air, trekkers will then proceed to Kathmandu via roadways, requiring a 4-5 hours' drive.

Day 15 :

DEPARTURE FROM KATHMANDU
